YES, IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN, THE ORIGINAL…

Zander Match

SPONSORED BY HARRIS-SPORTSMAIL

Saturday September 18th 9am - 4pm. Ham Island, Tewkesbury

This is one of the best zander water in the UK, twice we have had zander in excess of 10lb caught in these matches, and the record zander came from this stretch of the river Severn. Ham Island is an unusual fishery in that the Severn and Avon meet, also round the island are two weirs, so take your pick, fish the Severn, Avon or stick with the Mill Stream, they all produce zander. Harris-Sportsmail are again sponsoring the event so there will be good tackle prizes to win. Also this year any LAS member catching a double figure zander and getting good photographs, Harris will give £100 of tackle vouchers to them!!! Salmon have been caught on these matches but must be returned. Entry ticket including day ticket is members £10.00, non members £14 (if you join on the day you save £4 off your membership). Juniors under 16 fish for free but must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes for best zander to two places, best bag of zander to two places.

Directions, Come off the M5 motorway at Junction 9, Tewkesbury, take A438 into the town, go straight on at the war memorial in the town centre. A minutes drive and you will see the Abbey on your left, a few hundred yards further on and on the right is the car park, bring some change for the parking.

FOR BIG PIKE THIS IS A PROVED WATER

TOPWATER & JERKBAIT DAY

STAUNTON HAROLD RESERVOIR, South of Derby

Sunday 3rd October, 9am - 4pm.

SPONSORED BY FRANGLAIS FISHING

This water produced pike at an average weight of over 10lb for three of us who fished it several times last year. It has produced a 20lb'er on a surface lure for Dave Prescott and a 20+ for Wadey on a jerkabit a few years ago, so, having received permission to fish it lets make the best of it. This is a large water with stories of 30lb pike and it has1½ miles of bank to fish. Franglais Fishing are sponsoring this event with some attractive prizes. They will have various rods and lures on show and for sale before the 'off'. Members tickets £10.00, visitors £4 extra (join on the day and save £4)

Directions, Coming along the M1 to Junction 24A, turn onto the A50, at Junction 3 clearly marked Melboure take the B587. Just follow this road, also you will see signs for the reservoir along the way. Sign will take you off this road at the entrance to the reservoir on the right, Calke Road, follow road to main car park. Coming via the A38 take the A50 turn south of Derby to Junction 3 marked Melbourne. Follow directions as above. Satnav co-ordinates 52.81817 1.4397, this is at the turning of the B587 into Calke Road. Postcode DE7 8DN. Print off water map for car park and water details.
